Nepal's commercial banking sector is advancing its annual general meeting season, with Sanima Bank approving dividend payouts and director appointments while Global IME Bank prepares to propose its own distribution along with a broader digital expansion.

Sanima Bank Limited endorsed a dividend proposal at its 22nd annual general meeting held on Monday in Kathmandu, according to reports by Corporate Nepal and Onlinekhabar. Chaired by the bank's head, Tuk Prasad Poudel, the assembly approved a 10 percent cash dividend inclusive of tax on ordinary shares as of mid-July 2026 (Ashad-end 2083), alongside an 8.25 percent cash dividend on preference shares. While Gorkhapatra framed the headline as an 18 percent dividend, its reporting corroborated the individual payout rates approved by shareholders. During the meeting, public shareholders also elected Tej Bahadur Chand and Mahesh Ghimire unopposed to the bank's board of directors, Corporate Nepal reported.

Financial figures cited across Corporate Nepal, Onlinekhabar, and Gorkhapatra indicate that Sanima Bank posted a net profit of Rs 3.55 billion in the 2082/83 fiscal year. Over the same period, the lender's total assets climbed 10.50 percent year-on-year to Rs 291.21 billion, total deposits rose 10.84 percent to Rs 249.93 billion, and net credit advances expanded 11.19 percent to Rs 203.99 billion. Onlinekhabar cited the bank's Chief Deposit Officer Hemraj Sanjyal as confirming key prudential indicators, noting that non-performing loans stood at 2.87 percent, the capital adequacy ratio stood at 12.83 percent, liquidity measured 30.68 percent, and the monthly average credit-to-deposit ratio was 80.77 percent.

Separately, Global IME Bank has called its 20th annual general meeting for October 2 (Asoj 16) as it marks two decades of operation, Setopati reported on Tuesday. The lender intends to propose a 10 percent dividend for shareholder endorsement. According to Setopati, Global IME Bank generated a net profit of Rs 6.036 billion in fiscal year 2082/83, representing an increase of 15.90 percent compared to the prior fiscal year.

Global IME Bank reported that its deposit base expanded by 21.80 percent to reach Rs 700.44 billion, while loan disbursements increased 8.22 percent to Rs 476.84 billion. The institution's paid-up capital stood at Rs 38.116 billion, backed by an operational network comprising 341 branches, 366 ATMs, 141 branchless banking outlets, 69 extension and revenue collection counters, and three international liaison offices.

Setopati added that Global IME Bank is steering resources toward automated platforms, including upgrading its Global Smart Plus mobile app, launching digital lending, widening automated customer onboarding, and expanding dedicated overseas banking services for non-resident Nepalis.
