National Life Trains Over 300 Staff on AI and Anti-Money Laundering

National Life Insurance Company has concluded a four-day employee skill enhancement workshop in Nepalgunj, gathering more than 300 administrative workers, department heads, and senior executives to focus on digital technology and regulatory compliance.

According to reports across domestic outlets including Corporate Nepal, Annapurna Post, Lokpath, and Artha Sansar, the training at Hotel Siddhartha brought together regional staff from across Nepal's seven provinces. Company Chairperson Prema Rajya Lakshmi Singh inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the need to equip personnel with artificial intelligence tools and digital connectivity to adapt to evolving industry demands. She noted that investing in employee competencies directly aids corporate growth.

Chief Executive Officer Suresh Prasad Khatri welcomed participants, noting that customers remain the core pillar of the insurance business, as reported by Annapurna Post, Lokpath, and Artha Sansar. Khatri urged staff to treat client service with speed and respect, emphasizing that issues arising anywhere in operations must be treated as collective organizational responsibilities.

Beyond corporate strategy, the workshop addressed regulatory scrutiny. Sambharaj Lamichhane, a director at the Nepal Insurance Authority, conducted a session cautioning staff against the risks of life insurance channels being exploited for money laundering, Corporate Nepal and Artha Sansar reported. Meanwhile, trainer Bishwo Raj Poudel delivered practical instruction on applying artificial intelligence, and trainer Sanjog Koirala lectured on workplace conduct and corporate identity.

During the event, chairperson Singh distributed cash prizes and certificates to seven recipients of the "Best Employee Award 2083": Shivesh Thakur from Itahari, Geeta Kumari Thing from Bardibas, Rukmani Kumari Sharma from Kathmandu, Anil Shrestha from Birauta, Subash Mani Pokharel and Pramila Malla from Nepalgunj, and Bishnu Jung Shahi from Jajarkot.

Corporate Nepal and Artha Sansar further reported that the four-day program incorporated interactive and recreational sessions. Employees staged workplace dramas representing their home provinces, engaged in panel discussions with departmental leadership, and underwent internal assessments. The insurer also hosted inter-staff futsal, table tennis, and tug-of-war tournaments before concluding the gathering with a staff excursion to Karnali Chisapani.
