Jagdamba Motors Launches SHACMAN Heavy-Duty Electric Trucks in Nepal
Jagdamba Motors has rolled out SHACMAN's X5000e electric prime mover and tipper in Nepal, targeting construction, hydropower, and long-distance commercial freight.
Jagdamba Motors, the automotive division of Shanker Group, has formally introduced two heavy-duty electric commercial vehicles from Chinese manufacturer Shaanxi Automobile Group, known internationally as SHACMAN. The lineup includes the SHACMAN X5000e 6×4 Electric Prime Mover and the X5000e 6×4 Electric Tipper, marking the brand's formal entry into Nepal's expanding heavy-duty electric haulage sector, according to coverage by Onlinekhabar and ICT Frame.
As reported by Annapurna Post, the X5000e Prime Mover carries an introductory price of NPR 2.05 crore, while the X5000e Tipper is priced at NPR 2.35 crore. The prime mover has been configured primarily for long-distance highway logistics and heavy cargo transportation, whereas the tipper is engineered to handle off-road demands in civil construction, aggregate moving, and mining operations.
Technical specifications published by Nepal Khabar indicate both vehicles utilize a 310-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack paired with a powertrain delivering peak output of 340 kilowatts and 2,800 Newton-metres of torque. Built on a 6×4 drivetrain with 295 millimetres of ground clearance, the models incorporate regenerative braking and digital battery management systems. For charging infrastructure, the platform supports dual-gun DC fast charging capable of replenishing the battery pack in roughly one hour, alongside a battery-swapping architecture that allows battery replacements in approximately five minutes.
Onlinekhabar noted that the trucks are equipped with comfort and safety features designed for commercial drivers, including air-suspended driver seats, multi-function steering controls, air conditioning, digital display clusters, and integrated operational stability systems.
Commenting on the introduction, Shanker Group Director Deepa Agrawal stated that the partnership is intended to expand modern electric mobility options across Nepal's freight ecosystem, ICT Frame reported. Sanders Lee, South Asia General Manager for Shaanxi Automobile Holding Group, observed that Nepal holds significant growth potential for heavy-duty electric vehicles.
Addressing the financial case for fleet electrification, Jagdamba Motors Executive Director Akhil Gupta told Nepal Khabar that lower operational and maintenance expenditures offset higher initial acquisition costs. Gupta stated that running costs for the electric trucks average approximately NPR 30 per kilometre compared to around NPR 136 per kilometre for conventional diesel trucks. Based on those operating metrics, Gupta estimated that operating expenses would drop to approximately 60 percent of diesel alternatives, yielding estimated annual fuel and maintenance savings between NPR 2.3 million and NPR 2.5 million per vehicle for heavy-use sectors such as hydropower projects and bulk industrial haulage.
