Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Balen Shah in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning as his diplomatic assignment in the country draws to a close.
State-run daily Gorkhapatra reported that Srivastava met Prime Minister Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers earlier in the day. The engagement marks one of the envoy's concluding official calls ahead of his departure for New Delhi.
During their conversation, Prime Minister Shah commended the ambassador for bringing his tenure to a successful conclusion and highlighted his role in broadening and deepening multifaceted bilateral relations between Nepal and India, according to reports from Onlinekhabar's Nepali and English editions. Nagarik News reported that the discussion centered broadly on the status of Nepal–India ties and avenues of ongoing mutual cooperation.
The prime minister also expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its prompt assistance during recent natural calamities in Nepal. According to Onlinekhabar English, Shah specifically acknowledged India's disaster relief and support following devastating floods in Rasuwa district.
Srivastava is scheduled to conclude his assignment and return to India within the coming days, Onlinekhabar reported.
