eSewa Rolls Out 'Buy Now, Pay Later' Facility for Electric Scooters
eSewa has launched a Buy Now, Pay Later facility allowing digital wallet users to finance Gyaro electric scooters with loans of up to Rs 200,000 through Reliance Finance.
Digital payment provider eSewa has introduced a 'Buy Now, Pay Later' (BNPL) credit facility on its digital wallet platform, enabling customers to purchase electric two-wheelers through digital financing.
The service was launched through a tripartite agreement inked on September 24 (Asoj 8) at eSewa's central office among eSewa, Reliance Finance Limited, and EV distributor Parimita Investment Private Limited, Artha Dabali and Ratopati reported.
Under the arrangement, consumers can acquire Gyaro-brand electric two-wheelers through installment plans processed directly within the mobile application. According to Kalakarmi, Reliance Finance serves as the credit partner disbursing digital loans, while Parimita Investment supplies the electric scooters.
The financing package offers digital credit up to Rs 200,000 at an annual interest rate of 9.99 percent, Lokaantar reported. Customers can repay the borrowing through flexible monthly installments over a repayment tenure spanning up to 36 months.
All application and evaluation procedures will be conducted digitally inside the eSewa smartphone app, according to Ratopati. Company representatives stated that the initiative aims to remove the barrier of lump-sum upfront cash outlays, allowing buyers to convert vehicle costs into monthly obligations.
The memorandum was signed by eSewa's outgoing chief executive officer Jagdish Khadka, Reliance Finance deputy chief executive officer Ramhari Acharya, and Parimita Investment representative Manan Tuladhar, according to Artha Dabali and Kalakarmi.
eSewa noted in its launch announcement that combining digital wallet services with micro-lending is intended to expand financial inclusion and promote clean transportation, Lokaantar reported. The participating firms stated that supporting electric two-wheeler adoption would help curb tailpipe emissions, encourage sustainable urban transit, and foster Nepal's digital transaction ecosystem.
