Bhaktapur to Host Music Jatra-Khwapa Charity Concert in Sallaghari
A large-scale charity concert featuring Kuma Sagar and The Khwapa Band is scheduled for Mangsir 12 at Sallaghari in Bhaktapur, with part of the proceeds supporting children with disabilities.
Bhaktapur is set to stage a major charity music festival, "Music Jatra-Khwapa," at the Sallaghari open grounds on Mangsir 12, marking the first hometown concert for popular ensemble Kuma Sagar and The Khwapa Band.
Organizers announced the event during a press briefing at Club Bagmati in Kathmandu, according to reports by DC Nepal, Setopati, and Onlinekhabar. The festival is being jointly managed by Loopix Entertainment, Dristikon Media, and The Royal Events.
In addition to Kuma Sagar and The Khwapa Band, the concert lineup includes seasoned rock act Mukti and Revival alongside Nibha Dangol and Chhabahi Dabu. Gorkhapatra reported that traditional Newar cultural dances will also be featured, including the Devi dance, Kawancha dance, Jangali dance, and Khicha dance. The state daily noted that a special Dhime performance will bring together 50 traditional drummers and 100 women dancers.
The event blends live performances with cultural promotion and local charity. Stalls dedicated to indigenous Newar food and lifestyle will be set up across the grounds, Setopati and Onlinekhabar reported. Entry has been structured through corporate sponsorship: attendees need only present an empty can of the event's title sponsor, Xtreme Energy Drink, to enter the venue, according to DC Nepal and Setopati.
Proceeds from commercial operations—specifically half of all income generated from sponsorships and stall rental fees—will be donated to the Community Based Rehabilitation Organization (CBRO) in Bhaktapur, organizers told the press. Gorkhapatra noted that CBRO, established in 1985 (2042 BS), works to support children with disabilities through education, advocacy, and social inclusion initiatives. Organizers added that direct donations collected via digital platforms during the event will also be handed over entirely to CBRO, according to reports from Onlinekhabar and DC Nepal.
