RSP Secretariat Reviews Madhesh Feud, Tightens Party Discipline

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) convened a secretariat meeting on Sunday to address internal organizational discipline, national governance coordination, and persistent disputes that have stalled local conventions across Madhesh Province.
Party chair Rabi Lamichhane instructed colleagues to forge stronger alignment among the party structure, its parliamentary bench, and the government, spokesperson Jagadish Kharel announced after the session. Lamichhane told leaders that the three entities share an interdependent relationship and directed members to consolidate working ties to maintain unified policy execution, according to Onlinekhabar.
The secretariat had been scheduled to gather at 11 a.m. at the central headquarters in Kathmandu under Lamichhane's chairmanship to deliberate on contemporary political issues, My Republica reported.
Kharel noted that Lamichhane also issued directives regarding institutional discipline. The party chair urged lawmakers, office bearers, and supporters to adhere to organizational conduct guidelines, cautioning against discord that could undermine collective goals.
In addition to general political developments, the leadership focused on organizational paralysis across the southern plains. Joint General Secretary Hari Dhakal presented a preliminary briefing on behalf of a dedicated organizational audit committee investigating internal rifts in Madhesh Province, Onlinekhabar reported.
Although the RSP concluded its first national general convention in Chitwan in late June, internal friction has stalled the formation of lower-level committees in Madhesh. Of the province's eight districts, conventions have taken place only in Parsa, leaving seven districts without formal leadership.
To resolve the impasse, the central committee formed the Madhesh Province Organization Audit Committee on August 21, appointing Dhakal as coordinator alongside members Surendra Chaudhary, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Pramod Neupane, Jagadish Kharel, and Punam Agrawal.
The committee recently concluded on-site visits across the affected districts to evaluate organizational bottlenecks and consult local party cadres. According to Kharel, while a summary was tabled on Sunday, a full and detailed investigation report will be presented at the secretariat's next meeting to determine how the party will proceed with the delayed district conventions.
