Tribhuvan University Recovers Rs 165m From Staff Breaching Study Leave

Tribhuvan University has reclaimed approximately Rs 165 million across 75 resolved cases involving faculty and administrative personnel who failed to return to their posts after official study leave, according to university records reported by Gorkhapatra. The administration is recouping all salaries, allowances, and benefits disbursed during these absences, alongside interest and statutory penalties, Clickmandu reported.

The recovery drive is set to expand, with Nepal Views reporting that preliminary accounting indicates another Rs 215 million in pending claims against non-compliant staff. The university has ordered all personnel who violated their study leave conditions to contact the Registrar's Office or arrange remote settlements by mid-January 2027. Officials have warned that those failing to meet the deadline will face legal prosecution based on their signed bond commitments.
